grim comes to see me at my desk. I say hi buddy what's up. he wags his tail. I show him the steel grooming comb. he goes :D and snuffles the comb. I comb his neck and shoulders and I say what a good boy, do you like being combed? so handsome, such a good dog. and he looks happy, and when he wants me to comb something else he turns around and shows me his back, or his flanks, or his hips and I comb out his fur for him. then when he's done he goes to lie down on his bed and says urfff. harrumph. which is the noise he makes when he's comfortable

Extremely controversial opinion, but I think people who don’t have the time or energy or wherewithal to brush a dog should stop acquiring dogs with coats that require brushing.

My sister is still brushing my hair because I can't hold my arms up for long.

This has become a full-on Girls' Sleepover Party every time, now, Gwyn rushing over to seat herself in my lap to be brushed while sister brushes my hair. Gwyn helpfully lifting her forelegs to have her feathers brushed, turning without request to get her other ear, etc. I don't know why Gwyn has decided to play Girls' Night like this, but it's very sweet and silly.

Last Girls' Night, I finished brushing Gwyn, set the brush on the table, looked at Tristan and asked "you want a turn? You want to be brushed, too?"

Tristan looked around, spotted the brush, gently stole it off the table, and trotted around to present it to me. 😂🤣

Awright, so he doesn't want a full membership in Girl's Night but he's willing to lend a hand, I guess.

Uhhhh yeah the Collie blog is going to be dead for like the next two weeks, I've packed up my old Collie magazines and am packing up my newer ones (80s-now) today. 🥲 I'm hoping to have a better set up for them, too, since I'm going to try and turn my new closet into a puppy room 🤞

so my work is supposed to offer grooming and training for the ouppies (as well as daycare and boarding) but. we dont have a groomer or trainer yet. i was told we'd get a groomer early 2024. we have not. the main reason i want a groomer is so that we can offer nail trimming services. i love all my kids but some of them have Knife Toes

I took Light to agility last night to watch and learn to chill out in a crate! She was a little worried at first but settled in well. Afterward she let some new people go over her and look at her teeth! Including a big dude with a beard and hat. A very good and brave baby!

Angst thoughts: Having the dog pack helped him process a bit of his grief from the stuff that happened in book 4. Others may judge him for crying but never his dogs. They will gladly wrap around him and let him cry on their fur. Except Xiao Qing. He doesn’t like tears on his beautiful coat, so he’ll lick them away from FX’s face.

When the loneliness starts setting in, FX knows he can just whistle and be smothered by a his giant dogs who all want his attention.

They would be so helpful for him. He must have been so lonely after book 4, when he was still trying to scrape by

I can totally see him, on an especially tough day, start crying into his dog. Then Xiao Qing starts licking his face , and he can’t help but laugh. Xiao Qing is very good at comforting him, in his own way.

And once he ascends to heaven, and gets given this big lonely palace, his dogs are still there to keep him company
